Inspiration for this piece was taken from a very large and beautiful Iswara Butterfly & velvet bean plant from Malaysia

Every unique design created starts life as a detailed line drawing. Each piece has been thrown on the wheel, left to slightly dry and then goes through many different processes to create my intricate images onto the damp clay surface.

My decoration is a combination of painting with clay slips, carving and using sgraffito to draw the delicate lines onto each design. This takes many hours of work and no two pieces will ever look the same.

Once completed these are left to dry for a few weeks and fired twice in an electric kiln during which I have selectively glazed the main themes leaving the rest of the decoration matt.

This piece measures 11cm high / 6cm wide / 2.5cm foot / 199 grams
